Alnwick Castle seen from inside the curtain wall, Alnwick, Northumberland, England, UK.
The castle was originally one of several 12 th century strongholds set up to guard against the Scots, with Norman barons named de Vesci being its first owners. In 1309 it became the property of Henry, the first Lord Percy. The first Duke of Northumberland transformed what was left of the original Norman castle and subsequent medieval additions into a palace in the mid 18 th century. This was further repeated in the Victorian era by the fourth Duke. Black Adder and Harry Potter were both filmed here.
