Caption: | The Cove House Inn with wave wall and coastal defencesat Chiswell, with Chesil Beach beyond, Portland, Dorset, England, UK. Chesil Bank is a splendid example of a linear type storm beach of flint and chert pebbles, which commences at Bridport Harbour and finishes 29 km away at Chiswell beneath the cliffs of Portland. It's maximum height, about 14 m above mean sea level, and pebble size is to be found at the Portland end. It is generally between 150 and 200 m wide. |
