Setting up your Domain Name

Having your own domain name is the best way run your web site and/or sales area to maximise your search engine optimisation. If you do not already have a domain name you can purchase one very reasonably from a domain name registrar: Domain Name Registration. With your own domain name we will display all pages, galleries and proofing links using your own domain.

Using theimagefile for your sales area and your web site

If you are running your complete web site on theimagefile system your domain name will persist through all web pages, sales areas, links to collections and proofing area. The set up process is simple but needs to be followed carefully. In brief you set up the DNS record to point www to webhost.theimagefile.com - There is more information below to help you with this.

Integrating theimagefile sales area into your own existing web site

If you have your own web site already you can brand theimagefile to mirror your site (Setting up a custom layout using the Mirror External Website Tool), and set up a sub-domain name. Your web site will use www.yourdomain.com (for example) - and theimagefile can use a sub-domain name, for example: galleries.yourdomain.com or clients.yourdomain.com or similar. You should set up your sub-domain at your domain name registrar DNS manager (your domain name registrar is where you purchased your domain). If you are using Doubleshot Domains this is a simple one minute job. If using other domain name registrars please follow the instructions below.
