Additional websites

Your website is the most cost-effective marketing tool available. Many members want their website to be very focused on a particular work area, rather than showing a mixture of different types of work and service all on one site. For example, as a photographer, if you shoot weddings, commercial work, stock, glamour and school portraits, this is the tool to help you create an entirely different identity for each site; with different branding, styles, logos and domain name etc. Your image collections can be selected to display on any particular site, or more than one selected site.

Create an additional website

To create a secondary site, go to My Websites > Create Additional Website. You will first give the new site a name, and then you can create the pages add the branding, set it up to have its own domain name and so on.

Working with more than one website

When logging in to the account you will always by default always be on the account's selected main website administration area - so when editing always check which site you are working on which will be displayed in the breadcrumb. To change between sites, click on select site where you will have all tools available to create snapshots, drafts, edit and view any site within the account.

You can also set the "View-as-visitor links" to use a selected website from My Profile > Nav Options, select the site name you will be working on. After saving all friendly URL's to collections and images will be using the URL of your selected site. Note, that this only changes the links shown to you for administration. All links published will remain intact and not be changed.

What your sites will share

  • Your sites can all share specific details - for example, the My Images area. This enables you to create collections that are displayed on all your websites or just one or more selected sites. Of course, you can also select which collections are shown on which sites.

  • All your sites share your Copyright string. However you can set your copyright string to blank so it does not show on either site and add your own copyright string to the footer of each website.

  • All enabled Direct Payments. However you could set up one payment option (like Paypal) for one site, and a different payment option (like Stripe or Square) for the additional site. The sales history will be combined, so you might have to creatively work out a way of dividing the sales from one website from another website, if that matters to you.

  • All your sites share the company information and supplier information as sent to customers on automated emails and invoices. The selected website email header will be shown, however, the business details in the footer of sales and emails will be the same on all sites.

What costs are involved

By default, your new website will be a Limited-Access Web Sites, meaning only you can see it while you build it, but it will be free. You only start paying for the site when you put it live by making it Full-Access (My Websites > [site name] > Domain Name and Settings). You can change to Full-Access when you are ready. While your site is on Limited-Access, you do not get charged for the site, and search engines do not have access to the site for indexing. When your site is made live the extra website cost of 3.00 is added to your normal monthly subscription.

Alternative option: From Finance Details > My Monthly Bill > Account Admin, you can also create a secondary account. This will be a completely independent account from your primary account.

Delete unwanted additional websites

You can delete an additional websites at any time. To delete an additional website:

  1. go to My Websites.
  2. Click the "Domain name and settings" link for the site you want to cancel
  3. At the bottom of the page, check the two delete checkboxes
  4. Save All

Note: If you are not wanting to delete the site, but want to take it offline, change the setting above the delete option to "Limited-Access" and Save All. Limited-Access sites are not available for indexing by search engines and are not live for general visitor traffic and are not charged for.
