Capture the moment...
The wedding photographs I make are not posed but captured in a natural unforced way. I want to make photographs on your wedding day that tell the story without need for explaination and truly show the emotion of those involved.
Most wedding photographers believe that the only way to guarentee sucessful wedding photographs is to stage them. My own philosophy on this is that there is a place for staged photographs. Some portraits of the Bride and Groom and family groups are important. But, photography should not dominate the day.
Over the years I have met and photographed a huge number of couples that really do not want to pose for photographs on their wedding day, there are so many better things going on. I know of photographers who take up a huge chunk, 2 or 3 hours of the day just to make staged photographs. I will make the formal pictures you request but it will only take 10 or 20 minutes.
Wedding photography for me is about capturing the moments that will bring the memories flooding back. In years to come you will want to remember the emotion, the feelings and the people... not having your photograph taken.
It is true that not every photographer you speak to will be good enough to work in this way. They must have an eye for a story and be able to intuitivly compose and foresee the "decisive moment".
Photography is a perfect story telling tool but should be used with integrity...
