Does Steven take formal group pictures?
Of course Steven will take any pictures you ask him to. It is very rare for Steven not to do at least one or two formal group pictures and some portraits. You tell him what you would like. Most times the formal pictures are done and out of the way in 10 to 20 minutes, painless.
There is a lot of black and white pictures on your website, what is the proportion of black and white to colour?
Steven is a wedding photojournalist, a story teller, he believes that black and white pictures tell the story better than colour because the image is simplified to tone and texture. He says..."while black and white quietly relays the narrative colour screams here I am"... Steven, left to his own devices, will shoot most of the pictures in black and white while some pictures will be about colour and cannot be seen any other way. All of the group pictures you request will be in colour as well as some of the portraits of the Bride and Groom. If you want more colour than usual, just ask.
Does Steven travel?
Steven has photographed weddings throughout the world. Only about a third of his diary are Lake District weddings while another third are Central London. The rest can be anywhere. Steven does not ask for a travel fee for weddings on mainland UK but if the wedding is more than 200 miles from his Lake District home or Central London he does ask for overnight accommodation to be arranged. For weddings overseas Steven asks that you arrange flights, transfers and accommodation for the night before and the night of the wedding.
Who will take my wedding photographs?
Steven is the only photographer and works alone. He has tried working with assistants and 2nd photographers but finds that this just makes the photography more obtrusive which misses the point of his style. For the same reason he suggests that you talk to your videographer on this subject. In fact because of Steven's comprehensive story telling style you might want to consider not having a videographer at all. When Steven works abroad he likes to take his partner, Jane with him. Jane helps with logistics and makes the travelling more bearable but she does not attend the wedding. Steven pays Jane's expenses.
Can we meet Steven?
Steven suggests that a meeting is set up as soon as possible. You are going to invite a stranger to your wedding; you will want to know that they are going to be ok. If you are in the Lake District a meeting can be arranged at Ford Cottage or Steven can come to your venue. Steven goes to London every month and a meeting can be organised in London.
