Natural Light

I like using natural light in
preference to using electronic
flash, which I use only sparingly.

Even shooting action indoors
such as for weddings in the
the church or even action shots
like the dancers, I prefer to use
natural light and a fast lens
like my 85mm f1.4. I find that
this approach lends a natural
luminosity to the subject that
electronic flash tends to destroy.

Transition Light

Outdoors transition light
at dawn or dusk is a fantastic
time to capture mood.

Low winter sun is another
favourite of mine.

Macro and Close up

Even for macro, garden and
product photographs I like to
use natural light, often with the
help of a reflector. For products
on a table I prefer the use of
constant lighting to flash.
