Akrasia Part I. A series of digital paintings on A3+ Hahnemuehle paper.

A series of paintings, digital and some digital with acrylic interventions exploring Akrasia and Nicomachean Ethics.

Kilfeather continues his exploration of nicomachean ethics, eudaemonism and akrasia, with this series of digital paintings, some with acrylic paint interventions, about akrasia. Akrasia, from Aristotle's nicomachean ethics is for example about people that, through obsession or greed, cannot stop themselves from wrongdoing. This body of work has been inspired by the, at that time, British Airways' Chief Executive Willie Walsh. It refers to Walsh's apparent akratic obsession with a totalitarian employer agenda and his attempts to win notoriety as the person who neutralised the union movement in the UK. Kilfeather's work often refers to social problems and comments on these, however his work is really about visually identifying that essence of human weakness which causes the powerful to put aside all ethical considerations.
